Abigail and her Aunt April
She loved the cake and although she was a bit shy to get messy at first it did not take her long to dig in!

Abigail's cousin, Layne, and her little boyfriend, Wyatt.
The baby splashpad was a hit--Abigail loves going outside to play on her splashpad--good purchase mama!

Abigail's first birthday party was really great.  We wanted to invite everyone we knew but we knew it would probably overwhelm the birthday girl.  I cannot believe that my baby girl is already ONE year old!!! The time is really flying by but I do not take any of it for granted.  She is truly the blessing in our lives and we thank God every single day for bringing such a sweet soul into our lives.  Happy Birthday my beautiful Abigail!!!  Your mommy and daddy love you more than you will ever know!!!

Our Colorado Trip

Well, I know that it has been quite a long time since I last posted, but things have been pretty busy here in the Wisian household.  On July 6th (yes, one day before our baby girl's first birthday) we got on a plane and all flew to Denver, Colorado.  Well, Abigail and mommy followed daddy to Colorado where he had to attend a work function for a couple of days; therefore, we decided to make it our family vacation out of it and Clayton took some days off after the work thing to travel around the mountains with his family.  I was a nervous mama flying with my baby girl, but she did rather well on the plane--she must like to travel!  It is amazing how I really didn't mind flying before I became a mother but wow, as soon as you have to put your child on a plane and feel so helpless--it is not the best experience, but we made it!  Abigail and I spent July 7th together all day long.  I took her out of our hotel and walked around Denver with my "big" girl in her birthday outfit.  We had lunch together and then I found a bookstore and bought her a very special book for her to have from her mommy.  For dinner my little sister joined all of us and we had such a wonderful time. The restaurant staff brought Abigail her first ice cream and she instantly fell in love!!!

On Friday, July 9th, we rented a car from our hotel and drove through the mountains to Winter Park, CO, where we stayed at a beautiful ski resort!!! We will definitely be going back when we can actually go skiing!  We made several stops at different little towns to shop and eat and just had a ball together.  The next morning we woke up early and drove through Rocky Mountain National Park.  It was beautiful and really rather cold, but we all loved it!  Abigail seemed like the altitude was kind of getting to her so we headed down and that same afternoon we took Abigail on a REAL steam engine train ride through the mountains in Georgetown, CO.    Our short, but WONDERFUL trip ended way too quickly and we were leaving the next day---once again our Abigail did wonderfully on the plane---more vacations are to come!

Here are a few pictures from our Colorado trip this summer.

A Birthday Poem For Abigail

My First Year

Before I was born my parents simply couldn't wait.
I finally arrived on July 7th, three days late.

Those first few months I didn't do much at all.
My parents were told, "Enjoy it while she's small."

At 6 months old, my doctor discovered a "click" in my left hip.
We soon headed down the road on a brand new trip.

On January 18th 2010
I woke up in a strange place with a new friend.
My mommy and daddy cried when they saw my pink spica cast.
But I soon showed them that nothing would get me down, no matter how long in would last.

For three months my legs were still.
But I never gave up because I have a strong will.

On April 14, 2010
things changed for me once again.
My friend, Spica was removed and slowly but surely I began to move.

Now that my legs are free,
I have discovered how to scoot and finally feel like ME!

I do not know how to crawl or walk yet.
But give me time and I'll get my feet wet.

At 9 months old, my first tooth finally broke through.
And of course it did not put me in a very good mood.

Shortly after that my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th teeth came in.
And my fussiness came back again.

"Bella", "Hi", and "Bye Bye" are words I now say,
But "Daddy" is what you'll hear most of the day.

As you can see I've had a busy year.
It's hard to believe that my First Birthday is already here.
